"BLACK WIDOW" CRUSHED LIKE A BUG As posted on IGN Filmforce: IGN FilmForce reports that the live-action feature film version of Marvel Comics' "Black Widow" has been dropped by Lionsgate. The studio was said to have let the project go due to the less than stellar box office results for other recent female-driven action films like "Aeon Flux" and "Ultraviolet". David Hayter(Solid Snake in the Metal Gear Series), who was attached to write and directed, says "Marvel and I then spoke to a few other financing entities, but I never felt comfortable that we had found a place that was willing to take the movie, and the character, seriously." The Black Widow was a Russian spy who made her debut in "The Invincible Iron Man" and ultimately became a love interest of "Daredevil", gaining her popularity in the "Daredevil" comics. Hayter's version would have involved the Black Widow being given to the KGB at birth who groom her to become its ultimate operative. When the Soviet Union breaks up, the government tries to kill her as the action moves to present-day New York where she is a freelance operative.
